I have an actual post in the works, but here’s a little note of interest for you Vancouver artists.

It’s pretty neat and you better hurry because at the time of this writing, it’s 75% sold out!

So get cracking.

This exceptional 2-day event offers participants a rare and exciting opportunity to learn from the industry’s top talent. This class has toured the world, with this being one of only two North American stops in 2010.

Told you it was cool.

You know what’s even cooler?

I’m doing an interview with Pixar story artist Matthew Luhn for the blog!

It won’t be up for a little while and the event could very well be sold out by then, but it will still be awesome. We’ll talk about his career, his work at Pixar and get some details about the Masterclass he’ll be doing at VanArts on September 25th.

Very stoked!

UPDATE Aug. 10th: Well, I haven’t got that new post finished. And now I’m off to Montreal. It may have to wait till I get back. Au revoir mes amis!

It sounds wonderful. I cannot draw, other than mechanical sorts of things, but I’d enjoy this just for the talks.

Incidentally, the collection of images (PIxar people and characters) in the banner has one more subtle layer of animation reference in it. Mike (from Monsters Inc.) is pictured sitting in the restaurant called “Harryhausen’s”—named after Ray Harryhausen, the giant of stop-motion animation.

I’m still here, and glad to see you doing well. I’ve written now more than 300,000 words on Pixar’s film WALL•E; feel free to mention to Mr. Luhn that one of your regulars is a serious fan. ];-) (You have a lot of Pixar fans here, of course.)

I look forward to reading your interview, and I’m tickled that you have the opportunity. Are you going to Vancouver?

    Best wishes!

I went to this when they came to London. It was really good, especially the storyboarding day. It’s extremely intense but you do learn an awful lot! I recommend it to anyone who can afford it!

    @ Level_Head –
Yes, I think I probably have a lot of Pixar fans here. 🙂
I live in Vancouver but it doesn’t look like I can swing going to the Masterclass myself, unfortunately.
By the time I figure it out, it’ll probably be sold out! Looking forward to the interview though.

@ Rochelle – Thanks so much for the recommendation! It’s nice to hear you found it worth it and that you learned so much. 🙂

I took this class when it was in Toronto earlier this year and let me tell you guys if you can go. GO! It was a please to see Matt and Andrew in person talking about what they do best! Highly recommended by me! Who am I? Who cares hehe Definitely a terrific class and I learned a lot from them both.
