You know you’re getting old (*points at self*) when you’re going along your merry way and all of a sudden you look up and say, “Waa? A whole friggin’ week has gone by? How did that happen?”
Then you realize you haven’t got a clue what to write about in your little blog yet still feel the need to post something. Anything.
Now, I could post about how I don’t have anything planned and humbly apologize and say I’ll have something super-awesome-keen next week and please don’t leave me sob, sob, sob.
But that would be stupid.
And lame.
So I did what any self-respecting blogger would do. I searched the internet for other stuff to show you and get my lazy ass off the hook.
Ta da!
So here’s what I scrounged up discovered. And they’ve all got a neat ‘teach-y’ feel to them too.
First off, I happened to stumble across and nifty little site from Australia’s ABC Kids called Roller Mache (there’s some missing accents, but I don’t know how to type them). It’s a nice little learning site for kids 8-15 that talks about the process of telling stories with animation.
They have sections on the whole process from getting ideas, to planning them out and then executing them. If you have kids that are interested in this stuff, take a peek. Heck, even if you don’t have kids, take a peek.
Next, I’ve been meaning to put together a little glossary of animation terms for the blog. Of course, I haven’t ‘gotten around’ to it yet. But I will! Really.
In the meantime, here’s a great glossary from the Toon Boom Animation website. It’s a pretty good one. Just note that the Toon Boom products listed aren’t necessarily ‘common’ animation terms (you can’t blame them for the self-pimpage). ; )
And finally, here’s a video that’s been making the internet rounds. You’ve probably seen it already, but if you haven’t, it’s a good one. All about the storyboarding process at Disney from way back when. A nice little education.
Next time you read my blog, feel free to play that same background music in your head. It will make the experience that much more pleasant. (It’s a tad long, so go grab a snack if you have a slow internet connection.) If you can’t see the video, please click through to the blog here.
Take it away, Eric Goldberg!
Hope you enjoyed. This next week better slow the heck down, I tell ya.
Read the Storyboard Blog by RSS Feed or by email for less lazy-ass posts in the future.
I don’t think people would stop coming by your blog 🙂
on the note of videos there is a few i found that are pretty cool as well

Cheers Karen~
I *hope* it would take a heck of a lot more than a missed post for people to stop coming! But it’s all part of silly ‘blogger’s fear’ anyhow. (I bet no one would even notice.)
Thanks for those awesome links Dan! 🙂
If anyone else want to share some great animation links, feel free to post them in the comments. You might get caught in moderation hell for a bit, but I’ll let you out. I promise!

@Karen
So what you’re basically telling us…is that you farted around on the Internet this week, but it was STILL productive, because look at all these cool links you found.
(Clap! Clap! Clap!) Well done!
I’m inspired! 😉
I enjoyed, particularly, that last video; the Disney storyboard tutorial. Among other things, it exposed an aspect of Walt Disney that I was unfamiliar with.
Best wishes!

@ Friar – You can save your snarky-ass comments for your own blog, buddy. 😉
@ Level-Head – Glad you liked it. I still love to watch behind the scenes stuff like that. 🙂

I’ve seen that Disney storyboard video – it’s on the DVD of Lady and the Tramp (which rocks sooooooooooooo hard).
And Level Head, if you’d like to know more about Uncle Walt, that DVD has tons of cool stuff about him. At one point it talks about his hometown of Marceline, Missouri and shows home movies with him in it and stuff. Really cool.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work on Kid Vs. Kat, Karen. 🙂
Hey Elizabeth,
Yes, I neglected to mention it’s from Lady and the Tramp. Don’t have the DVD myself, but I may have to pick it up since it rocks *that* hard.
Keep your eyes peeled for ‘I’m Okay, You’re A Kat’. Should be my next one on the line-up. 🙂

Karen,
I am TOTALLY put off by your lack of effort here. It offends me sumfin awful. It’s going to take me a while to………what was I just talking about?
Have a great day! 🙂
Karen,
Hey wait! Are you saying that link-posts are lazy and lame? Doggone it, now people who click through on Saturdays are going to discover that I’m lazy and lame. I’ve been hiding it so well…
(Even though it takes 17x as long to do the Round Table posts as my old Saturday posts did. I admire anyone who does a link post tremendously. So there, nyah.)
I love these links. I can hardly wait to show The Kid the first one, she is such a little artist she’ll love it. And the video. I hadn’t seen it. Very cool.
Regards,
Kelly
@ Lorin – Sorry sir. I’ll try to do better next week. *hangs head in shame* 😉
@ Kelly – Of COURSE not! I was saying putting up a post “apologizing how I don’t have a post” would be lame. Other peoples’ linky-love posts are the most amazing things EVER!! (she said, sucking up to Kelly)
And yeah, better linky-love posts (than mine) can be VERY time consuming! I guess that’s why I don’t do them often enough.
Hey wait! I take it all back. This was a supreme effort after all. Yes, it took me 17X to write this one too.
Hurray, I’ve been redeemed! 🙂
*whew*

Any Karen post is a good post I always say! It’s kinda nice to hear that the lazy bug strikes even the most diligent of bloggers. Entertaining and informative as usual, keep ’em comin’. (even if they are linky)
Wow, you always say that? Cool!
I’m honored.
And I will keep ’em comin’. Linky or otherwise. 🙂

Discovering what I can on the internet is how I write my partner’s blog…people seem to like the links and the filtered information
Very wise choice! and I loved the links
Yes, the link post is definitely the norm in the blogging world. It’s just that this one was kinda ‘thrown together’ at the last minute. Oops! I mean it took 4 hours…really. 🙂
Glad you liked the links!

(I know I’m off topic here…sorry in advance)
Karen,
I am SO glad I stumbled upon this blog. I can’t wait to dig in to all the cool stuff here. You have such a cool way of presenting what you know in a decidedly NOT threatening way. I also came to storyboarding by way of graphic design and animation school (Academy of Art University, San Francisco, here) so you give me hope that there is a place for me in the industry (some folks give me the “look” when I tell them I came to it from Graphic Design)
Thank you for being awesome 🙂
Abby
